My story

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to grow a cut flower garden. The majority of my life has been spent finding excuses to not do things that I long wanted. Largely, I feared failure or felt it would be a waste of time. One painful entry into winter, I decided this was something I had to at last try, and I am glad I did because I absolutely fell in love; I am in love. My every spare second and dollar goes toward gardening supplies, seeds, education, problem solving, and anything else gardening related one can imagine.

Before kids, my husband and I lived nomadically while I worked as a travel nurse. We fit everything we owned and our two dogs into a Honda CRV crisscrossing this country for 4 years. We lived in numerous tiny conditions that honestly were not always so nice, which was great because it taught me one very important lesson. Why did I think I needed all of those things? Two oven mitts max will get the job done! In a pinch, a sweatshirt will also work. With this epiphany under my belt, in 2018 we chose to settle in Lexington, KY. You can ask me why if you want to, but I have no idea why. This is simply what happened.

Okay back to life lessons; I have many. This lesson of taking small slices of life’s pie and appreciating them was so profound, it set me up for a happier life moving forward. I found that life can be bountiful in every way provided I appreciated small spaces and truly discerned needs from wants. As such, our home and plot of land are relatively small in an urban setting of town, but the “problem” of a small space obviously is not new to us. It in fact is not even something we deem a problem. Instead, we view smallness as opportunity to feed our obsessive need to solve problems. Really, this is probably more my obsessive need that my husband, Kevin, gets sucked into. But, it is obsessive none the least. As I like to joke, I create problems so that I can solve them.

One problem a small space is allowing me to solve is how to grow thousands of healthy flowers, herbs, fruits, and vegetables in my space 9 months of the year. Lucky for you, I have set aside anything I once loved (aside from my kids and immediate family), to focus solely on this resolution. Buying from me, you can know that no shortcut was taken and no effort was spared. I have a lot of anxiety to burn. You can trust that my soil and hard work is absorbing it all and I want to share the resulting goodness with you.
